EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Some male New York Jets football fans are drawing unfavorable attention by routinely taunting women and demanding they show their breasts.
Longtime fans told WCBS-TV, New York, the halftime routine of beer-drinking men teasing women in what's called a "Gate D Party" is becoming more rowdy at Giants Stadium.
Last Sunday, Dawn Gottschalk said, she unknowingly walked into the crowd of hundreds of men and it turned ugly when she refused to lift up her top.
"People were touching me and things like that and it was very, very frightening," Gottschalk said. "They started yelling obscenities and throwing beer bottles."
In response to a growing number of complaints, State Senate President Richard Codey issued a written statement calling for the state police and New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority to improve security, the report said.
"Apparently, Gate D stands for drunk and disgusting. It's beyond comprehension why security personnel would tolerate such behavior," Codey wrote.
The Jets also issued a statement to fans.
"We will not allow a small minority of people to ruin the experience for our fans and will be monitoring the situation," the statement said.
